Insomnia is a disease of the Brain.
It is a chronic inability to sleep.
A normal person should sleep approximately seven hours a day.
If you are unable to sleep for one night call it Sleeplessness.
When you are unable to sleep night after night for a prolonged period, call it Insomnia.
Insomnia may be Primary insomnia or Secondary.
Primary insomnia is a disease by itself, not connected to any other disease.
Secondary insomnia is a problem caused by another disease. Diseases like asthma, depression, arthritis, cancer, heartburn, pain, may cause disruption in sleep patterns. Medication or alcohol may also cause sleeplessness.
